Randolph B. Persaud is Associate Professor of International Relations at American University in Washington D.C., He specializes in the areas of Race and International Relations; postcolonial and decolonial IR; human security, critical security studies; critical political economy of globalization; the politics of identity; and the Caribbean. Before joining American University he was Assistant Director for the Center for International Security Studies at York University. At American University, he served as the Interim-Director for the Council on the Americas. He has consulted with the U.S. State Department, and the Council on Foreign Relations. Dr. Persaud is the author of Counter-Hegemony and Foreign Policy published by the State University of New York Press; Co-Editor with Alina Sajed of Race, Gender, and Culture in International Relations: Postcolonial Perspectives. New York: Routledge, 2018; Co-Editor with Narendran Kumarakulasingam of From Empire to Globalisation. Thrid World Quarterly (Special Issue) 40: 2, 2019. He has also published in major academic outlets such as Alternatives, Globalizations; Cambridge Review of International Relations; Race and Class, Connecticut Journal of International Law, Korea Review of International Studies, Encyclopaedia of Globalization, Latin American Politics and Society. Over the years he has taught a wide range of courses including Human Security, Race and International Relations, World Politics, Theories of International Relations; Migration; North-South Relations; Nationalism and Populism; Identity and Security.
